Logan Tom (Salt Lake City, Utah), a three-time U.S. Olympian and Best Scorer of the 2008 Olympic Games, is playing with Hisamitsu Springs in the Japanese V-League. On Feb. 7, Hisamitsu Springs played against Pioneer with two-time U.S. Olympian Tayyiba Haneef and 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Head Coach Toshi Yoshida. The fans enjoyed watching a 20-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 15-10 five-set match ultimately won by Tom’s squad. She scored 24 kills, two blocks and two aces as Hisamitsu Springs played in its sixth straight five-set match with the final five being victories. Hisamitsu put an end to its five-set match streak with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 victory over JT on Feb. 18. Tom came away from the abbreviated match with 11 points via 10 kills and a block. Hisamitsu is now 12-6 overall and in a four-way tie for first place in the V-League. Hisamitsu Springs and Pioneer have a rematch on Feb. 14 at Hyogo, while Hisamitsu Springs has a Feb. 15 match against Toray, which is one of four teams tied for first.
